Fourth District Court of Appeal building in West Palm Beach

A new building is going to be constructed in downtown West Palm Beach for the state’s Fourth District Court of Appeal.

Palm Beach County received $7.1 million from the state to relocate the appellate court from a rundown and moldy building on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard. The new courthouse is planned for a property along Tamarind Avenue, between Clematis and Datura streets. The state owns the land.

The 36,000-square-foot building is slated for an early 2018 completion, according to the Palm Beach Post. The existing courthouse has the same exact square footage.

At least 70 people work at the courthouse. [Palm Beach Post]Eric Kalis
