A plan for new luxury townhouses at the old Plaza Inn hotel site at 215 Brazilian Avenue have received final approval from the city’s Architectural Commissioners.

Members unanimously approved the plans, which call for a Mediterranean Revival-style four-unit, two-story building. The 5,300-square-foot units will each feature a second-floor loggia and terrace, driveway, two-car garage, rear yard and pool. When completed, the project will be the first townhouse development in Palm Beach in 19 years, according to the Palm Beach Daily News.

Architect Harold Smith had originally proposed a French Chateau-style architecture, which commissioners deemed “inappropriate” for the intersection of Brazilian Avenue and South County Road.

“It’s much more contiguous with the surrounding neighborhood,” Commissioner Henry Homes III said of the new plans. “I think it’s going to be a home run.” [PBDN] Christopher Cameron
