Following reports that Swedish furniture and meatball vendor Ikea was planning to open a store near Sweetwater’s Dolphin Mall by fall 2014, the chain has closed on site in a $31.5 million deal, the South Florida Business Journal reported. The 15-acre site next to Dolphin Mall, located at the intersection of Dolphin Expressway and Florida’s Turnpike, will contain some 417,000 square feet of retail space — making it the largest of Ikea’s South Florida locations.
