Site of closed Millennium Mall in Hollywood
The owner of the former Millennium Mall in Hollywood started demolishing the vacant building to make way for a Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Dania Beach-based Dacar Management is razing the mall, which was once known as the Hollywood Fashion Center, to build a 180,000-square-foot Wal-Mart. Dacar already lured Pollo Tropical, Taco Bell and TD Bank to the site, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The mall was vacant for nearly a decade before Dacar received project approval in November 2013.
The mall most recently operated as an indoor flea market. At one time, Hollywood Fashion Center was a thriving retail destination and anchored by Burdines and JCPenney. But it lost major tenants to the newer Pembroke Lakes Mall six miles west. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
