David Beckham had to take a break from his Miami soccer push to squash reports by numerous European media outlets that he and his wife Victoria acquired the former Versace Mansion.
Several outlets, including Mirror Online, reported the couple purchased the Miami Beach mansion for nearly $50 million. But the Nakash family, which won the 1116 Ocean Drive property with a $41 million bid during a September 2013 bankruptcy auction, did not sell it. The 10-bedroom, 23,000-square-foot mansion was constructed in 1930. It opened as a hotel five years ago.
Beckham made his plans to bring a Major League Soccer franchise to Miami official last month. His investment group is currently looking for a stadium site and negotiating with county officials. [WWD] — Eric Kalis
