Town Hall Square in Palm Beach is set for a major restoration.
The town of Palm Beach is moving forward with a restoration of its Town Hall Square.
Palm Beach council members are scheduled to vote Tuesday on the project, which has an estimated cost of nearly $6 million. The council is expected to vote on whether to award preliminary design work to Bridges, Marsh & Associates, the Palm Beach Daily News reports. If approved, the firm would be paid $125,000.
Once the design is finished, the town’s Landmarks Preservation Commission would have a chance to review it. Bids from construction management firms would then be solicited.
Town Hall Square includes Memorial Park and the Mizner Fountain.
The town could choose to finance the project through a bond issue that is also on Tuesday’s agenda. Officials expect some of the project to be funded through outside donors. [Palm Beach Daily News] — Eric Kalis
