As South Florida’s residential real estate market continues to surge, homebuyers are becoming more particular about what amenities and design features they desire.

Stuck on the sidelines for several years after the region’s housing market collapsed, buyers are ready to deploy their pent-up savings again. And those searching for homes priced between $300,000 and $1 million have long lists of add-ons to give to builders, the Sun-Sentinel reported. Those builders, such as Lennar and CC Devco, are willing to accommodate requests for customized amenities.

Common add-ons for new home construction in South Florida include modernized security systems that allow owners to access live video footage remotely and separate living quarters for larger families.

Residential observers say builders are more open to buyer design requests in an effort to better compete in a frothy construction cycle. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
